THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH

1:30PM @ Coronach School

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND

On November 11, remember them

They are our grandfathers, brothers, mothers and sisters, neighbours … heroes. Canada’s Veterans – their courage, service and sacrifices have kept us strong, proud and free.

Canada’s Veterans – Strong, Proud and Free

Each year, in November, hundreds of commemorative ceremonies and events take place across the country to commemorate Remembrance Day. These are opportunities for all Canadians to recognize the contribution our Veterans have made and to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of Canada.

There are so many ways to remember and honour our Veterans:

  • Wear a poppy.
  • Attend our Remembrance Day ceremony on November 6th at Coronach School at 1:30. Everyone is Welcome.
  • Thank a Veteran.
  • Students – read one of our remembrance newspapers that are handed out at school.
  • Talk to a friend or relative who served with the Canadian Armed Forces in Afghanistan or in other areas of conflict.

View videos and listen to Veterans talk about their experiences.

Ways to share online

Use Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram and Flickr and show you remember Canada’s Veterans. Post photos, videos, and messages using the hashtags #RememberThem.

Remember Them

However you choose to remember Canada’s Veterans, be sure to share it with everyone you know. Together, it is our duty to pass on our gratitude and keep their legacy and memories alive. This Remembrance Day, Remember Them.

Drive Away Hunger

Posted by chiltz on October 3, 2014 in General News |

untitledIn recognition of World Food Day on Friday, October 17th, employees at Farm Credit Canada and local food banks across Saskatchewan will be collecting donations of food and money for people who are hungry in our province.  Coronach School will once again participate in the FCC Drive Away Hunger food campaign.  Collections take place between September 29th to October 14th.  Below is a list of most needed food items according to Food Banks Canada:

Pasta (canned or dry), pasta sauces, canned meats and fish, canned fruits and vegetables, flour, infant foods and baby formula, dairy (canned and powdered), whole grain cereals, canned good (beans, soups & stews), rice, and meat alternatives (peanut butter, soy, assorted packaged nuts)

Last year we collected 859 pounds of food!!!  Let’s try and beat that total this year!!  Bags were handed out to students on September 26th.  Food items many be dropped off at the school between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

This year Westomore Coal will make a cash donation matching the number of pounds of food collected by the school and community!!!!!

CTV TOUR

Posted by chiltz on September 23, 2014 in General News |

Hello Everyone!

CTV news will be in Coronach this Thursday, September 25th and they will be stopping at the school for the lunch hour!  The Town of Coronach is providing a FREE lunch for all students, staff and COMMUNITY members from Schnell’s Food Truck!  The food truck will be parked in the high school parking lot, and we will have a few tables and chairs set out for the lunch!  The younger students, K-6 will be served their lunch beginning around 11:45am to ensure that they get their food.  We are creating a few posters to welcome the news crew and hopefully a few students, staff and/or community members will want to be interviewed during the lunch hour to promote/brag about what a beautiful community we have!

Please try to find some time to come out for some free lunch, a nice visit and a wave or a pose for the cameras!

WEAR YOUR RIDER GREEN FOR THE DAY!!!

Thanks!!

Walk to School Challenge

Walk to School Challenge

Give walking a try October 6-10images

October 6-10 is Walk to School Week and Coronach School is taking part in a Saskatchewan in motion challenge designed to get more kids walking and biking to school. Our school has a chance to win $1,000 for sports and physical activity, students who walk all five days could win a $250 bundle of active toys and gear and there’s a prize for every student who walks at least once.

Although walking to school is one of the easiest ways to build activity into your child’s day, only 28% of Canadian kids do so these days. That’s why Saskatchewan in motion is challenging families to give walking a try at least once during Walk to School Week.

All students will bring home a Walking Passport and more information about the challenge. We hope you’ll take up the challenge to Give Walking a Try at least once during the week. Students who walk or bike to school arrive relaxed and ready to learn. They build independence, develop social skills and get some of the 60 minutes of physical activity they need every day.

Visit saskatchewaninmotion.ca for more information about the Walk to School Challenge and tips for getting started walking to school.
