Scranton: TAG Students Get Culinary Lesson

Talented and Gifted students from J. C. Lynch Elementary School tried their hand at creating culinary masterpieces when they took a field trip to the Young Chef’s Academy in Florence on April 20. The young chefs cooked crepes with chicken and cheese filling, which is a French recipe and ties in with class’ new friends in Canada.

The students have been studying Canada and have been communicating with fourth graders at Sunningdale School in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, using Skype. As the TAG students researched topics about Canada, questions would arise. To find out the answers, the students would Skype the Canadian fourth graders who would research to locate answers. During the Skyping sessions, the Florence 3 students shared digital photos of the area. Some of the most fascinating photos that were sent back showed how much snow they received after several snowfalls. The snow was almost to the top of the windows in the classroom and the students were still going to school!
