December 2019: A Note From Tony

Hello Prairie South Friends,

As the holidays approach, I wanted to send a quick note to express my appreciation for your work this fall as we serve students and families together.  Sometimes we can be caught up in the negative aspects of the education sector in 2019 – insufficient budgets, challenging relationships, difficult and sometimes thankless work.  In spite of all of these things, I believe that children and families in Prairie South are receiving the highest quality education that can be found anywhere in the world; this is due to the collective efforts of every member of our staff together with critical supports from the communities we serve.  Regardless of your role, your dedication to the 39 schools in Prairie South and to the school division as a whole is making a difference for children and families.  Thank you.

At the end of the holiday, I will be sending the most recent version of the Prairie South Schools Staff Satisfaction Survey for your comments about how we can be a better employer.  This survey is done every two years, and results in an improvement plan that responds to the needs expressed by CUPE, STF, and out of scope staff.  While we won’t ever see a time when our work is stress-free, I continue to be grateful for the direction of the Board of Education who believe that we need to keep working toward improving life for our employees who are helping students succeed.

I’m looking forward to a few days away from the office over the holidays.  Our kids will all be home for Christmas, so there will be quite a bit more action at home than we get most of the time!  From my family to yours, please accept my very best wishes for a peaceful holiday season.
